On Tuesday morning, April 7, 2020, from 10 to 11:30 am, please use your computer, smart phone or tablet to virtually attend the virtual public forum that the AODA Alliance and Ontario Autism Coalition are jointly organizing and hosting. We will talk to leading experts on the additional barriers and hardships that over 2.6 million Ontarians with disabilities are now facing during the COVID-19 crisis.
Sign-Language Interpreter Takes On Premier Ford’s ‘angry Dad’ Approach as He Pushes for Accessibility
Christopher Desloges, an American sign language (ASL) interpreter, has become a fixture at Mr. Ford’s news conferences, where he translates the Premier’s message live on television for tens of thousands of deaf people in Ontario and across Canada.
The Mass Migration to Online Learning is Leaving Disabled Students Behind
She tells Digital Trends, that “in many ways, online courses are more accessible” than attending lectures in person. But, in her experience with remote learning, Rachel notes that “there’s a tendency to see online classes as universally accessible, and that some disability accommodations don’t matter anymore because everything is now made available in ways that professors would not have made available before for students who were ill.”
Disability Groups File Complaint On Rationing Policies In Coronavirus Pandemic
Ari Ne’eman, a visiting scholar at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University looked at state policies for crisis care and found several that have set policies that ration care at the expense of people with disabilities.
In addition to Washington State, he said he found similar standards in New York, Alabama, Tennessee, Utah, Minnesota, Colorado and Oregon.
‘I Couldn’t Get In’: Clearview Woman Says She Missed Funeral Reception for Friend Because the Hall Wasn’t Accessible
When family and friends gathered at the Sunnidale Hall to pay their respects and share stories, she was unable to attend.
Prosser, who has arthritis in her hip and shoulder and other ailments, uses a walker to get around and is unable to make it up the stairs at the hall.

Barring visitors ignores the specific needs of those with intellectual and psychiatric disabilities
